The Hunt Cycling is a full service bike-shop, independent journal and collective consisting of three cycling enthusiasts based in Halle Saale. We try to explore, document and share our experiences in the field of cycling and beyond. Besides drinking shandy, lots of riding and intellectual discusses about bike parts and stuff, we enjoy riding with friends and running our showroom and bike-shop located in the center of Halle.
Before we started thinking about The Hunt Cycling website we thought about many different things. We planned a lot and discussed many details in endless conversations. Certainly one of those things where photos. Photos are the most important part of a website. The question was: How we gonna shoot and what cameras should we use. At this point we did not know that two of us had something really cool in common. A camera. To be more precise: It was a Olympus µ[mju:]–1 analogue camera from the early 90ies.This small piece of plastic is a little style item. It’s a 35mm – 3,5f miniature camera with automatic autofocus, exposure and flash control. With a total weight of 170g its a very light and compact point and shoot camera you always want to have with you. The pictures are quiet good for a camera from the early nineties. The big slider in front makes the handling easy especially when shooting one handed. In order to compose a picture you have to use the viewfinder. Its a cool camera for street photography. We did a whole lot of photos with the Olympus mju 1 over the time. Especially a lot of cycling point and shoot, snapshot stuff. The Olympus improved the art of shooting for us. On long rides the camera was always strapped on the front belt of our alike beloved Ortlieb backpack to easily grab the camera whilst riding. Of course there are also digital cameras we use but we grew attached to this lovely camera and always will be. So watch out. There might be a Olympus mju photo here and there flying around the blog.
